BACHELORS OF JOURNALISM AND MASS COMMUNICATION (BAJMC)

SSGI offers a three year undergraduate program BAJMC affiliated to University of Lucknow that aimed students to build their career in the field of journalism and mass communication. After successfully completing this course students are able to develop as well as refine their skills of gathering, transmitting, and delivering information to a large audience. After the completion of the course, students can also opt for their career in two significant modes of mass media and communication; print media and digital media.

OBJECTIVE OF PROGRAM

  1. To teach students theoretical knowledge and practical application of journalistic reporting, researching, advertising, interviewing, editing and writing.
  2. To impart the principles of communication, law and ethics and their application to professional journalistic practice and the pursuit of truth among the students
  3. To understand the history and role of journalism and mass communication in shaping society
  4. To demonstrate the role of multimedia technologies, including social media, in the journalistic practice and ability to effectively cover the diversity of groups in a global society
  5. Knowledge of basic numerical and statistical concepts, as well as an understanding of how to attribute sources, both human and physical, into stories.
  6. To enhance activity focused on skill development, employability, entrepreneurship, and personality development

PROGRAM OUTCOME

  1. All the students will acquire a functional knowledge of the underlying principles and recent emerging trends of the media industry.
  2. The course teaches an all-encompassing theoretical and hands-on approach in communication and media.
  3. To understand the ability to report in depth, using a wide variety of sources to provide context, accuracy, and balance.
  4. To understand the ability to embrace convergent media by shooting video, making photographs, and writing for and posting to the web.
  5. To understand the roles and duties of journalism in society, and recognition of the legal and more implications of their work.
  6. To create awareness among students to become an enlightened citizen as well as a dynamic professional with commitment to deliver one’s responsibilities strictly adhering to highest standard of ethics and professionalism.

SCOPE AND CAREER OBJECTIVE

Doing BAJMC from SSGI is a good choice as the degree has a wide scope .After completion of the course; the students can go for higher education if they are interested in Masters of Journalism & Mass Communication [MAJMC].

Students can also easily find employment with media houses, newspapers, periodicals and magazines, central information service, press information bureau, websites, AIR and TV channels etc after studying BAJMC.

COURSE STRUCTURE

BAJMC is a three-year full-time degree program, divided into six semesters, each of six months duration.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  1. Intermediate or equivalent examination from any stream or subjects.
  2. For General and Other Backward Classes, candidates must secure at least 50% of marks and for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, the minimum number of marks obtained should be 45% based on total marks of all subjects.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

  1. Students may obtain application forms on all working days from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on payment of Rs.750/- cash/ cheque or demand draft in favor of “SRI SHARDA INSTITUTE OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES” from the college campus .Candidates can also fill the admission application form online at www.ssimt.edu.in.
  2. Admission is given on the basis of merit of Intermediate & Personal Interview/Lucknow University Entrance Examination.
  3. Students should carry original mark-sheets and certificates of class X and class XII for verification on the day of the interview.
  4. Students should submit photocopies of mark-sheets and certificates of class X ,class XII and graduation (self-attested)

  6. Students should submit Character Certificate and Transfer Certificate in original from the Head of the Institution from where the candidate has passed his/her last examination as a regular candidate.
  7. Students should submit original Caste Certificate, Income Certificate & Domicile Certificate issued by competent authority for claiming reservation under Government Rules.
